December wheels
We thought maybe it just wouldn’t happen this year but it finally up and snowed on us. I have to say that I wasn’t entirely unhappy when I got the call from Red Rock Elementary. The automated voice informed me that due to snow school would be canceled for the day. There is just something about a snow day! Even as an adult we appreciate getting a little grace thrown at us. Of course my third grader Mira was exstatic. After lesurly pancake eating, pijama wearing morning we got to the task at hand, preparing for a day of sledding. We gathered necessary clothing, rallied the kid network and headed for the start hill at the BMX track. We sledded the hill with every possible sliding method and rider combination until a general snowball war was declared. This led to more than one, “sorry I wasn’t aiming for your face” and subsiquent retaliation. Finally pure exhaustion brought the party to a halt and the procession returned home for hot chocolate and tow warming.
Mom and dad ended the day with a little indoor riding on the trainer, content with the days cross training activity and satisfied with an unexpected day off with the kids.
